Diokles
Well, we know where that is, on the border formed by the river Alpheios. Not the city of Pherai, but the land of Pherai near Antheia.

There's a place called Veligosti, west of the river, which could've been where Diokles lived, halfway between Pylos and Sparta.

I used Leontari, east of the river, as reference point for the google maps routes.

The route around the Taygetos, crossing the Alpheios, is relatively easy for horse and carriage.

Google maps uses an average walking speed of about 5 km/h. Let's say horse and carriage travel at twice that speed, so about 10 km/h.

INDEX
They came to Pherai, the home of Diokles, son of Ortilochos, whom the river Alpheios has fathered. There they passed the night.

Route over the Alpheios, day two.
Assuming that Telemachos and Peistratos walked 15 km and drove 45, the trip might very well have taken about 7,5 hours. The same goes for day two.
